There are literally hundreds of plugins out there, they all add something different to Wordpress. They cover everything from blocking spam comments to display a tag cloud to displaying a random picture of a dog (maybe…). Anyway its safe to say there is a plugin for just about anything and everything you might want to add to your blog. I’m going to go through each of the plugins that I use of the next few days, and let you know why I think they are great. And obviously they are all going to be Redoable compatible.
WordPress Tiger Administration 3.0
Steve Smith at OrderedList recently released version 3.0 of of this fantastic plugin. Put simply this makes the Wordpress admin section look much, much nicer, and more like an application. Its very simple to install, all you need to do is upload it to your plugins directory, and then activate it from the plugins menu, done. The recent update also brought a redesign, which looks very schmic. It doesn’t add any additional functionality to your blog, but it will make working in the admin area a more pleasant experience. You can get it from here.
FeedBurner Feed Replacement 2.2
Another plugin from Steve Smith at OrderedList, this one will automatically replace your sites main rss feed (and optionally your main comments feed as well) with your FeedBurner feed. Again installing and setting it up is fairly simple, just upload, active, set up your FeedBurner feeds (if you haven’t already) and thats pretty much it. Its a very simple way to add the FeedBurner feeds without having to modify any files. You can get it here.
This is just one of several great plugins that have been released by Alex King. Share This adds the ability to easily let readers add your post to their favourite social bookmarking site. Share This also implements the ‘Share Icon’ project (shareicons.com), where the goal was to “create a generic ‘sharing’ icon”, along similar lines to the standard Feed Icon. Instead of showing a huge list of different icons after each post, there is just a ‘share this’ link, which you click and a box pops up for you to select which bookmarking site to use, and you can also email the link to a friend. You can get it from here.
